An East London museum that tells the story of education for the poor has reopened following the dual impact of covid and refurbishment works.
About Ragged School MuseumAt the heart of the Ragged School Museum is a unique classroom, which recreates a glimpse of Victorian life.
There's a replica classroom, an upper floor with a replica Victorian home, and a modern exhibition space that tells the story of education for poor children before national state education existed.
The classroom is set aside once a month as part of the Sunday Open House activities for anyone, no matter their age, to experience a lesson centred around the three R's. All lessons are led by an actor in full Victorian costume.
