I recently told you that you had until the end of May to visit the Prefab museum in a soon to be gutted estate in South London.
Well, now you don’t.
As they have had the opening of the small museum extended until the “end of summer”, which is irritatingly lacking in precision, but I guess they are in a certain state of limbo themselves, not knowing exactly when the prefab home they occupy will be torn down.
So, one more temporary reprieve for this historic estate of the temporary homes, and a bit more time to pay a visit to see something quite unique in the UK.
My previous review of the museum, and the plans to gut the estate here.
The museum is now open every Saturday from 11am till 5pm for as long as they manage to hold on.
However, if you were to plan a special trip to make a visit, the 10th May might be the best date to chose, as Catford Bus Garage is just down the road, and will be having an open day of its own.
Thanks a lot Ian for the update. I am afraid – as you have guessed – we can’t be more precise about dates as not aware of what is happening with the “regeneration” of the estate. We’ll keep the museum running as long as we can!
I am pleased the museum has extended the opening times, I am travelling there from Australia in June, so was really disappointed that I might miss out. I lived in a prefab from 1947 until 1962, so they hold a special meaning to me.
