The Ig Nobels are coming!

One of the highlights of the annual science entertainment calendar is making a return to Imperial College in March, with an evening comprising of an eclectic mix of science, humour, really bad poetry and a small girl walking up to people and repeatedly saying “Please Stop, I’m Bored” when a speaker has droned on for too long.

If somehow you haven’t come across the Ig Nobels, then they are awarded each year for genuine scientific studies that “first make you laugh and then think”. Quite often, the topic is made even funnier by the pompous title granted to it in the formal write up.

Although the Ig Nobel awards were handed out at MIT late last year, they also travel around the globe putting on shows with various Ig Nobel award winners explaining what on earth motivated their study into the seemingly bizarre topic they were honoured for.

This year they return once again to Imperial College in Kensington on Friday 17th March 2017 at 6pm.

This event is extremely popular and therefore only a maximum of 2 free tickets can be requested per person.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you
