What does a huge but one-off TV production do when it’s finished and no longer needs all the stage settings and costumes? Sells them to the public, that’s what.
Yes, there’s an auction of some of the Eurovision stage sets and costumes so you can buy a piece of the show, and the auction opens on Tuesday 30th May.
That infamous butter churn isn’t in the auction, as it’s now in a museum.
But there are a lot of other things to consider, with 63 items in the auction.
Maybe you fancy the presenter’s lectern that was used to announce the final results for your living room? The huge purple hands might look good in a playground or large back garden, while musicians might like to own one of Sam Ryder’s drums.
A lot of backing singer costumes are in the auction, ranging from the just about wearable to the shops to the sort of things that could likely only be worn at the Christmas party.
The full auction details are here.
If Eurovision isn’t your thing, then the auctioneer, Ramco, is also selling off surplus army bridges.
