Rachel Herrmann discusses her book No Useless Mouth which asks how Native Americans, free blacks, and slaves used food to wage war and broker peace during and after the American Revolution.
Rachel Herrmann is a Lecturer in Early Modern American History at the University of Southampton. She is an Eccles Centre Visiting Fellow, researching aquatic foodways through examinations of international networks of sailors and food shortages at sea.
Summer Scholars, hosted by the Eccles Centre for American Studies, is a series of lunchtime events where writers and scholars discuss their work and forthcoming publications in an informal setting. The talks are free and open to all. Tea and coffee are provided.
