About Carshalton Water Tower and Hermitage

A 300 year old water tower built above a grand summer house.

The main building is open to the public on Sunday afternoons from roughly mid-April to October each year, and you can go up onto the roof to walk around the water tower.

Twice a month they include tours of the nearby Hermitage, a grotto built as a decorative feature for the house.

Ticket prices

The Tower costs £2 per adult - children are free.

The same for the Hermitage when it is open.

Opening Hours

The Water Tower is usually open every Sunday from mid-April to October between 2.30pm to 5pm.

Sometimes it's closed, so check their website before making a special trip.

The Hermitage is open on the first and third Sunday of the month when the Tower is open.

Accessibility

The tower is not accessible as it's up narrow stairs. For access to the rest of the site, contact them in advance to gain entry via a different door. For details click here.
