If you’re planning a weekend break over the August Bank Holiday, some options may be out of reach thanks to railway closures.

As previously reported, all lines out of Euston will be closed over the weekend.

However, the south is also affected as a major section of line out of Victoria through Herne Hill closes for engineering works at Brixton.

Saturday — Services to Ashford International / Canterbury West / Dover Priory / Ramsgate that would normally leave from Victoria are being diverted to run from Blackfriars instead.

Services from London Victoria to Bromley South / Orpington / Gravesend and between London Victoria and Dover Priory via Denmark Hill are being cancelled.

Thameslink services between London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks will be amended to call at all stations via Herne Hill.

Sunday — Services between London Victoria and Orpington will be amended to run to / from London Blackfriars. These services will run via Elephant & Castle and Herne Hill, before running normally.

London Victoria to Dartford services are cancelled.

London Victoria to Orpington / Ramsgate / Canterbury East / Canterbury West / Dover Priory services will be diverted to run to / from London Blackfriars instead, will be re-timed and will have amended calling patterns.

Bank Holiday Monday — Services to Ashford International / Canterbury West / Dover Priory / Ramsgate that would normally leave from Victoria are being diverted to run from Blackfriars instead.

Services from London Victoria to Bromley South / Orpington / Gravesend and between London Victoria and Dover Priory via Denmark Hill are being cancelled.

Thameslink services between London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks will be amended to call at all stations via Herne Hill.

All weekend — as the London Overground also passes through Brixton, the southern end from Clapham Junction to Surrey Quays will also be closed.

No mainline trains will call at Brixton at all over the bank holiday, but the Victoria line tube station at Brixton will be open.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you

Good luck to the passengers trying to find other ways to commute into London whilst the lines will be closed because of engineering works.
