Something to look out for, as there will be two swarms of unmanned flying objects over London on Monday evening.
The swarms, each made up of 100 flying drones, will be flying over Hornsey and Greenwich, and according to an air traffic warning, the swarms are likely to be centred above Alexandra Palace in Hornsey and the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.
That’s the centre point of a radius of restricted air space, but the centre is usually where the action takes place, and they are centred on the two most likely places where a UAS swarm might be filmed doing something.
No, I don’t know specifically why they are doing this – it’s likely filming for something.
The two swarms will be in use between 2pm on Monday 23rd to 4am on Tuesday 24th October. They won’t always be in the air, but that’s the window announced in the air traffic warning. At a best guess, the daytime is for rehearsals, and then the actual event will take place in the evening when the lights on each drone can be seen for the filming or audience.
It’s a bit hit and miss when they will be in the skies in the evening, but if you have a view of Alexandra Palace or the Royal Observatory on Monday evening, look out for glowing shapes filling the skies. The swarms are being organised by Flightshows, who provide drone light shows across the UK.
