Description
With over 71,000 documented species, the British Isles has a fantastically diverse and distinctive natural history - one that has captured the imagination of artists, scientists and naturalists alike.
During the course of this free exhibition, more than 150 original illustrations from the Museum collection will be showcased, covering 300 years of British history from the early 18th Century to modern times, some of which have never previously been on public display.
Highlights include the wonderful life-size illustration of William MacGillivray, an important contributor to this exhibition, alongside works by Barbara Nicholson, Frank Hinks and Hilda Godfrey. Now in its second rotation, the Art of British Natural History is a celebration of the sheer diversity and natural beauty of flora and fauna found on the British Isles.
