Danielle Sellers, Deputy Curator at the Royal Engineers Museum, will discuss the Special Companies of the Royal Engineers that were formed in 1915 as a result of the use of poison gas on the Western Front.
The Royal Engineers’ Experimental Station at Porton Down was used as a testing station for chemical weapons during the First World War. Louise Bell will talk about the work conducted there and introduce some of the relevant records held at The National Archives.
