Written histories are a crucial window into our society, and The National Archives’ collection offers an important insight into LGBT+ narratives. 60 years on from the recommendations of the Wolfenden report that recommended decriminalisation of homosexual acts, this event will offer an opportunity to engage with records that help tell these intricate stories.
From the calling card of transgender diplomat Chevalier d’Eon to records pertaining to the lively Shim Sham Club, this unique occasion will open up a conversation around governmental attitudes of the past in order to reconfigure our perspective on the future.
