There has been lots of work done on the old railway embankment to improve the habitat for glow-worms, including cutting back overhanging trees, and creating a variety of habitats for the various stages of a glowworm's life.
The bright luminescent glow of these tiny creatures is always amazing, especially if you have never seen them before. We also hope to find bats around the lakes, and there will be bat detectors for you to try.
The walk is late because the glowing does not start until after dark. You can bring a torch but there will be sufficient light for you to find your way around safely. Do wear clothes that cover your body in case you meet a midge or two.
The walk is moderately long, about 2 miles, and involves walking up hill, but otherwise it is not too difficult.
It is essential to contact us before the event to confirm details, and to make sure we wait for you.
