This event has finished Took place on: Wednesday, 2nd Dec 2015

 Free

The Christmas pudding is the King of Puddings. A dish with complexity and depth of flavour and a rich cultural and natural history. Join us today, as we journey around the world and back in time, to explore some of the incredible stories behind the traditional Christmas pudding.

We will uncover the natural history behind each ingredient and meet kings and paupers, discover medicinal secrets and trace the trade routes and empires that have shaped our world - and our Christmas traditions.

Angela Dixon is a former lecturer and journalist. As a volunteer guide at RBG Kew, she has broadcast on BBC television and radio on the botanical ingredients of the Christmas pudding.

This meeting is free and open to all; registration is not necessary. Tea and coffee will be served in the Library following the event.
