Walk with old maps along forgotten byways to St Pancas old church. In a now concealed crescent we find Artists of the Camden Town Goup round the corner to the house where H.G. Wells wrote The Time Machine and Island of Dr Moreau. Along the way we encounter Ellen Terry, George Cruikshank and the site of Monsieur Gardonia’s celebrated balloon ascent from the Adam & Eve Gardens. On the edge of the Duke of Bedford’s Figs Mead estate we discover a rare surviving gate-house.
