This event has finished Took place on: Sunday, 10th Aug 2014

 Free

A World War I commemorative walk around central Westminster with a City of Westminster Guide in conjuntion with the Royal British Legion.

Using many of London's favourite and well-known buildings the walk will chart the story of World War I from its outbreak on 4 August 1914 through to its final ceasefire more than 4 years later.

The walk lasts about 2 hours starting opposite the Houses of Parliament by the statue of King George V and ending outside Westminster Abbey with another 8 stops en route. At all of the stops your guide will give you a commentary and insight into an aspect of the War related to that stop. For example, at Buckingham Palace, the guide will tell you the effect the war had on the King and the Royal Family leading to the changing of its name to Windsor in 1917.

Your guide is a member of the City of Westminster Guide Lecturers Association (CWGLA) and the walk is in partnership with the Royal British Legion.

Each walk fee includes a £3 donation to the Royal British Legion.
