A mainly food & drink themed walk around Walthamstow.

There’s so much more to Walthamstow than just the Market. Its history is not what you might think either but the grand tombs in St Mary's Churchyard offer a bit of a clue! Tour guide and lifelong Waltham Forest resident Joanna will take you on an exploration of 3 distinct areas of Walthamstow.

Hear how Walthamstow’s pubs have evolved over time & discover traces of food shops & off licences which used to pepper the neighbourhood. See what impact the coming of the railway had on what was originally a sleepy country town and where commuter houses were built on former watercress beds.

Joanna will also be pointing out hidden cafes etc to which you may want to return and the walk will finish in a pub in the picturesque Village area close to the aforementioned churchyard and only 10 minutes' walk from the tube.

Meeting point is outside the library in the town square, 5 minutes' walk from Walthamstow Central tube station.
