World Archaeology Festival: Passport to the Past

The 'World Archaeology Festival: Passport to the Past' will involve lots of activities taking place in Gordon Square and in the Institute building for families and all members of the public.

Activities should include

Thames Foreshore: see what our ancestors left behind in the Thames
Egyptian Rituals: make you own servant for the afterlife wax modelling and painting of Shabti’s
Conservation Laboratory: piecing together the past, see what’s involved in conserving objects for display in museums
Write like an Egyptian: learn how to write your name in hieroglyphs and make you own clay seal
Petrie Museum: get hands on with the Petrie museum when they come to the IoA
Animal Misfits: match the bones and make up an animal
Make it in Stone: Make you own flint tool just like they did in 1 million BC
From Skin to Leather: See how animal hides are transformed into leather
Sandpit Archaeology: learn how to excavate and unearth past
Scenes of the past: make a 3D card inspired by your own archaeological expedition at the Institute
