Foundling 10th Birthday Weekend

The Foundling Museum is 10 years old this year! Everyone is invited to our birthday party, with free entry all weekend and a range of activities and performances for visitors of all ages. Birthday treats include cake, balloons, fun family activities throughout the Museum and a summertime street party. Come and listen to music, help decorate the Museum, and enjoy a slice of birthday cake!

MEET THOMAS CORAM
All weekend
Thomas Coram has travelled through time to join us for the weekend. Talk to him about setting up the Foundling Hospital and life in eighteenth-century London. Pretend to be a Foundling pupil and he might even offer you a piece of gingerbread!

FAMILY WORKSHOPS
All weekend
Help create collaborative birthday bunting to celebrate the Museum’s 10th birthday. Using materials and sheet music, add your Handel-inspired bunting triangle to a giant string hung throughout the Museum.

‘MARCH OF THE GUARDS’ GRENADIER HATS
All Saturday
Create your own Grenadier’s hat inspired by the painting The March of the Guards to Finchley by William Hogarth. As you are a soldier of importance, you will make a ‘mitre’ for your hat. Add your mitre design to a collaborative patchwork military flag, to be displayed in the Museum. With artist Shelly Wain.

FOUNDLING CLASSICS

Hear some of the musicians who have performed at our Handel-inspired, classical concerts over the last seven years.

THE NEW FOUNDLING CHOIR & FOUNDLING COMMUNITY CHOIR
Sunday, 11:00 - 11:30
Celebrate the Foundling Museum’s 10th Birthday with a performance by the New Foundling Choir and the Community Choir on the front steps of the Foundling Museum.

SECRET TOKENS
All Sunday
The Foundling Hospital tokens contain thousands of secret stories from the mothers who left their children at the Hospital. Working with artist Davina Drummond families are invited to design their own token and stamp a message to put secretly inside.

FOLK AT THE FOUNDLING FAVOURITES

Chill out to some choice cuts of folk music, to mark the resounding success of our first year of Folk at the Foundling.
