Andrew Ducarel, the eldest of three Huguenot brothers, was a successful ecclesiastical lawyer, Librarian at Lambeth, historian of the palaces of Lambeth and Croydon and of the architecture of Normandy.

In Robin Myers’s new book, The Two Brothers, it is his younger brother James who takes centre stage, writing letters to Andrew in London about his life in France.
