LNER scraps peak-hour ticket restrictions on Fridays

The train operator, LNER has scrapped the restrictions on some off-peak tickets allowing them to be used during the rush hours as well.

The move, which is now in effect, allows customers to purchase Super Off-Peak tickets throughout the entire day on Fridays. Restrictions are being eased on all routes to and from London King’s Cross and Stevenage except for customers travelling between Stevenage and London King’s Cross and vice versa.

Fridays are traditionally one of the busiest days of the week with both business and leisure travellers on the move, and while demand has not yet reached pre-lockdown levels, Friday services have continued to be some of the most popular.

By scrapping the restriction on Super Off-Peak tickets being used in the mornings, they aim to spread out the passenger demand surge that traditionally kicks in at 9:30am.

The Friday restrictions will remain eased until 4th January 2021.
