Fancy a model of a brutalist building made from actual concrete, or a lasercut wooden artistic picture of one?
Wood might not be the usual material for brutalist buildings, but these artistic representations look very good in the warm tones that wood offers.
A company, SpacePlay specialises in brutalist art and has developed a range of slightly 3D reliefs of a number of brutalist buildings, mostly outside London, but a few London icons are there as well.
The dark background and pale wood tones chosen work very well and give the buildings a near Paul Catherall effect, except this time in shades of brown.
If you prefer something more concrete though, they sell a larger number of small models of brutal buildings, made from raw concrete.
From railway signal boxes to car parks and universities, and of course, the Barbican.
They’re fairly small, more paperweight sized, but that does also make them more affordable, and nicer to cluster on a bookshelf in a collection next to your books about brutal architecture.
