UPDATE – Tube strike suspended

Unless it’s called off at the last minute, there will be a tube strike starting on Wednesday evening and lasting until Saturday morning.
Apart from Wednesday evening, that means no tube trains on the Piccadilly line all day on Thursday and Friday, and delays in the early morning on Saturday.
The night tube will also be affected on Friday night.
Although the strike starts officially at 9pm, TfL is advising Piccadilly line customers to complete journeys by 10pm and expect there to be no service from 11pm.
Services will resume on Saturday morning with the line running with delays until 9am.
TfL Rail and Heathrow Express services will still be available to and from London Paddington station, but expect crowding.
All other Tube lines are expected to run as normal but TfL expect them to be busier than usual. Interchange stations along the Piccadilly line – Finsbury Park, Green Park, Hammersmith, and King’s Cross St. Pancras stations in particular – will be much busier than usual.
The strike is being called by the RMT which argues that TfL needs to hire more train drivers, continued problems with the ageing Piccadilly Line fleet and claims of repeated breaking of agreements.
Although most of the drivers are RMT members, the other tube union, Aslef members are also being balloted over possible future strike action at Arnos Grove depot on the Piccadilly line.
Not good for the England supporters back here who are travelling across London on the Piccadilly Line to get to the pubs to watch the Semi-final (England vs Croatia) World Cup 2018 campaign. But they should find other alternatives to get to where they need before kick off.
And some who work late shifts but they should also find alternative routes.
