If you’re planning to watch the large military aircraft flypast over Central London at lunchtime, and want to know what each of the aircraft overhead is, then the list has been released.
The flypast itself approaches from the East, coming into London from the North-East and lines up with The Mall for the flypast over Buckingham Palace at 1pm.
It disperses, but quite a lot of it will head North-West for a flypast over RAF Northwood, which is having an open day today.
The flypast formation is made up of.
2 Puma and 2 Chinook helicopters;
1 Dakota
2 Spitfires, flanking a Lancaster bomber
1 Sentinel surveillance plane
2 HS125 passenger planes flanking an E3D Sentry with its distinctive radar.
A huge C-17 Globemaster III transport plane
Finally, the Air Force Voyager flanked by 3 Tornados and 3 Typhoons.
…and then bringing up the rear after they have passed, will be the Red Arrows doing their thing.
That was fantastic, did not think it was my ‘thing’ but it was excillerating and I loved it.
