An email from the Historic Dockyard in Chatham begging for votes for an upcoming awards ceremony had me checking to see who else is in the running in the London area.
In addition to a bauble, there is a £2,000 prize for the winning organisation.
The London area candidates seem to be the following – so you can cast your vote as you deem fit (or ignore the whole lot if you prefer).
Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex – Best sports project
The Sport Action Zone (Lambeth/Southwark) – Best sports project
The Cause 2000’s ‘They Came They Stayed’ – Best Heritage Project. Film making project to record the memories of Caribbean migrants to the UK.
The Capital Woodlands Project – Best Environment Project. Improvements to 60 small woods in London.
Spitalfields City Farm’s Rare Breeds in the City – Best Heritage Project. Breeding and education about rare pigs and chickens.
The Midi Music Company’s Grit Story: Still Risin’ from the Dust – Best Heritage Project. Arts and music to promote something called “British Grime” (no, I have no idea either!).
Innovative Vision’s Peer Educators Project – Best Voluntary/Charity project. Working to reduce the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS.
HMS Cavalier – Best Education Project. The purchase and restoration of the WW2 destroyer.
