Bit of a charity promo, but also the chance to do something somewhat different.
In a few weeks time, the tall sailing ship, Tenacious will be moored in London’s Docklands, and for a suitable charitable donation, you can climb up the tall mast.
Free climb the first ratlines (thats the rope and wood step ladder) and make your way to the platform first at 40ft then 75ft, until it’s just a rope ladder between you and the 123ft high button.
They are asking that anyone wanting to participate be able to raise at least £150 through sponsorship and fundraising. To register call Matt Gravelling on 023 8044 9108 or go to www.jst.org.uk.
As much as I would LOVE to do this, I am somewhat scared of heights when on narrow ledges, and this would probably be too scary for me. Also, any panic attacks I have would cause more than usual annoyance for everyone else wanting to go up. Which is actually quite annoying.
About the charity…
Jubilee Sailing Trust is a registered charity based in Southampton, which owns and operates two tall ships, Tenacious and Lord Nelson. Both ships adapted to enable able-bodied and disabled people to become voyage crew on sailing voyages ranging from 5 to 45 days in length.
