From the end of next month, the rail operator, c2c will stop selling Oyster cards and won’t process top-ups for existing customers through their ticket offices.
Their ticket machines will still process top-ups for existing Oyster cards, but they say customers wanting a new Oyster card, will need to use other vendors such as a local newsagent or via TfL.
c2c said that it’s topping selling Oyster cards because their ticket offices use an older ticket retailing system for Oyster that TfL no longer wishes to support because they are encouraging contactless travel.
Although that works for pay-as-you-go customers, anyone with a season ticket will either need an Oyster card, or can request a c2c Smartcard.

No Brian, Oyster goes out further than that, we have Zone G – Ockendon, Chafford Hundred, Grays and Purfleet. Also Dagenham Dock and Rainham in Zone 6.
That’s four stations! And as Amanda below states, there are the zone 6 and zone G stations as well.
And c2c are to introduce their new Class 720/6 Aventra trains which is scheduled to be built and to be delivered before entering service this year or next year. That c2c wants 10-Car trains to be used on the busiest route (London Fenchurch Street-Shoeburyness, Southend Central, Pitsea and Laindon). And the Class 720/6 is replacing the 6 Class 387/3 4-Car Electrostar units and to be cascaded elsewhere. But not replacing the 74 Class 357 Electrostar units.
And whats has that go to do with c2c stopping Oyster card sales from their ticket officess?
Well it is Andrew Gwilt……..or should i say Mr “I have a comment about everything associated with railways”.
