The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has affected many aspects of our lives. From schools and universities to construction projects and entertainment industry - it all had to be suspended to stop the spread of the virus.
Since the start of the outbreak, there were unique and unexpected challenges faced by health-care institutions, including a critical shortage of personal protective equipment (PPEs) and respiratory equipment such as ventilators and CPAP machines. The role of engineers and scientists who have been putting tremendous efforts to solve these problems is undeniable.
Three young professionals were invited to join "Engineers Combating COVID” event to discuss their experiences of using engineering skills in combating the pandemic. This webinar will identify and discuss the role of clinical engineers within the National Health Service (NHS), the national infrastructure on producing PPE for those on the front-line by the 3D printing society as well as novel material solutions as a result of the pandemic developing at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL).
