Long Views of London: London Remade

Explore the teeming metropolis of 19th century London through archives.

Accelerating industrialisation and urbanisation brought remarkable changes to 19th century London. Its population grew nearly seven-fold and these new Londoners would work, play and everything in between in ways that were unrecognisable to their forebears. In this talk we will draw on LMA’s extensive picture archive to illustrate these changes.This series of events will take us on journey through 500 years of London's history. Our guides will include artists, planners and mapmakers and the myriad of images they created to record the fabric of the city and the people in it
