History of Balham Rail Station

16th Jan 2024Two new Ladies’ and Gents’ toilets opened on the platforms, in addition to the existing single-user accessible facility.
15th Jul 2021Refurbishment work on the platforms was completed on this day.
6th Oct 1969The station name reverted to Balham on 6 October 1969
9th Mar 1927The station was renamed Balham and Upper Tooting on 9 March 1927
Circa Jan 1863The station was re-sited by the LB&SCR in 1863 as part of works to widen the line, and improve the route between East Croydon and Victoria.
1st Dec 1856The West End of London and Crystal Palace Railway opened a station named Balham Hill on 1 December 1856
