Embark on a profoundly moving journey with the stage adaptation of multi award-winning author Jean-Claude Grumberg's best-selling French novella, "The Most Precious of Goods." Translated into 20 languages, this timeless tale of love and hope, set against the haunting backdrop of the Holocaust, is storytelling at its most poignant. Directed and translated by the talented Nicolas Kent, the production opens at the Marylebone Theatre on January 22, perfectly timed with National Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27.

The stellar cast features Allan Corduner (known for "Motive and the Cue" and films such as "Tár" and "Topsy-Turvy"), accompanied by a live score performed by acclaimed cellist Gemma Rosefield.

Set in the winter of 1943 in a war-torn Eastern European forest, the narrative unfolds as a poor woodcutter's wife discovers a mysterious bundle thrown into the snow from a moving goods' train. It contains something she has yearned for but brings with it a poignant twist.

Narrated with fairy tale-like lyricism, this gripping story reminds us that even in the darkest chapters of history, such as the Holocaust, traces of humanity can be found in the most unexpected places.

Praised as "Magnificent" by Libération, an "instant classic" according to Le Canard Enchaîné, and described by L’Express as "a fairy tale you’ll never forget," the 2019 novella comes to life on stage with unparalleled beauty, strength, and simplicity. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this extraordinary tale that transcends time and resonates with the enduring power of the human spirit.
