About The Show:
Rotunda:
Choreographed by Justin Peck, "Rotunda" unfolds with a commissioned score by acclaimed American composer Nico Muhly. This piece fosters a sense of community through mirrored movements and ensemble groupings, evoking reflection, delight, and intrigue.
Duo Concertant:
Set to Igor Stravinsky's composition, George Balanchine's "Duo Concertant" is an animated dance for a neoclassical couple. Dancers intermittently pause to listen to the onstage musicians, concluding with a poignant scene in a pool of light on a dark stage. Premiered at NYCB’s Stravinsky Festival in 1972, it remains a powerful showcase of neoclassical artistry.
Gustave le Gray No.1:
Choreographed by Pam Tanowitz and set to Caroline Shaw’s piano composition ‘Gustave Le Gray,’ this work features four dancers in flowing, vibrant red costumes. Sharp yet sweeping phrases are repeated as they interact with the onstage pianist, who continues to play while the grand piano and musician are moved across the stage, creating a visually stunning performance.
Love Letter (on shuffle):
Kyle Abraham brings together the pop stylings of James Blake and the eye-catching costume designs by Giles Deacon in "Love Letter (on shuffle)." This piece inspires NYCB dancers to new physical and emotional heights, seamlessly blending phenomenal classical feats with contemporary swagger.
Don't miss this extraordinary showcase of artistic innovation and classical mastery. Book your tickets for an unforgettable evening with the New York City Ballet!
