Seven Sisters station News

History of Seven Sisters station

21st Nov 1981An accident when one of the escalators stopped while carrying passengers resulted in a number of injuries and one fatality, Kevin Goulder. The station was also busy due to a local football match.
Circa Sep 1972Reported in Sept 1972, that an experimental two-way barrier had been installed. Passengers presented their ticket to staff, who then open the ticket barrier with a foot pedal.
8th Nov 1970A trial started where ticket barriers were left open to speed up passenger flow, only closing if someone tried to walk through without inserting a ticket. As that's not the usual practice today, it can be presumed the trial was not a success.
1st Dec 1968A joint British Rail-London Underground entrance and ticket hall opened on this day. The original B.R. entrance in West Green Road closed on the same day.
