We are committed to helping London's schools remain open and operate safely and to help this we will be adding over 200 extra buses to our network from Monday 8 March. We will also be prioritising some of our bus services for school travel from this date. Government guidance allows for all seats to be occupied on these 'school services', doubling their capacity, which is currently limited due to necessary social distancing. These 'school services' will be clearly signed and will operate on several key routes between 0730-0900 (some routes will run until 0930) and 1430-1630 on weekdays. On designated routes 'school services' will operate on an every other bus basis. We ask that schoolchildren travelling without adults use the designated 'school services' where these are provided, to help ensure space for customers on other services.

We are continuing to run school bus services to help the small number of children who need to attend school during the current national lockdown. Most routes will not be separated into School Services and Non-School services, and all customers who need to travel can board the first bus that comes (subject to capacity). We will continue running schoolday-only services where they are required. Most of these services (routes generally numbered between 600 and 699) will run but some may be withdrawn if our monitoring shows they are not being used. The additional school services that ran last term are not running currently. This is because of reduced school attendance, in line with the latest Government restrictions
