Description
An exhibition of Soho's seedy adult art and film by the street artist, Shuby.
An exhibition of Soho's seedy adult art and film by the street artist, Shuby.
In the exhibiton, she examines the early years of the UK adult film industry and 1960s era nudist movies as made in Soho.
You can expect a tongue-in-cheek look at a by-gone age of provocative filmmaking and the associated posters, made even more titillating by the exhibition gallery’s close proximity to Soho, which in the 1960s was swinging London’s epicentre of sex and debauchery.
Shuby has also paid homage to the proliferation of ‘tart cards’ during the era, these were the brightly coloured calling cards that plastered the inside of telephone boxes advertising the services of prostitutes, which the artist has reproduced on a large scale.
"I’m not attempting to enter into the politics of the sex industry and the people that work in it. The show is more an appreciation of the history and humorous graphics that have sold us the promise of sex from a bygone era.” – Shuby.
