Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of this gothic masterpiece. The Midland Grand Hotel is seen by many as the finest example of high Victorian architecture. Assembled using midlands red brick it took five years to complete at a cost, in today's money, of nearly 400 million pounds .

Your guide will explain the extraordinary skill levels employed to restore the hotel to its former glory, re-opening as The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel 138 years after it first opended in 1873.

Following an introduction to the hotel, your guide will take you outside to talk about the hotel's architectural genius, Sir George Gilbert Scott. Then you'll head into to explore the hotel's most important spaces.

See the Grand Staircase with its cathedral-like windows and hand-decorated, gold leaf adorned walls. Look up at the vaulted ceiling, painted with the heraldic arms of the Midland Railway. Stop by the Hansom Hall and see the famous roof. Hear how the latest innovations in hospitalty meant the hotel was 'the' place to stay at the height of the Victorian era

See various bedrooms, including the Sir George Gilbert Scott Suite and the Oriel Room (subject to availability). Tour the Ladies' Smoking Room, the first public female smoking room in Europe. Pass through The Booking Office, which has over 300 hand-carved oak diamonds on the linen panelling.

We'll see William Barlow's Train Shed which sits alongside the hotel, another example of an extraordinary Victorian building.
