Description

Secure communication is vital to the Army. Throughout Cyber Awareness Month, the National Army Museum is showcasing the work of the Royal Signals through a series of dynamic photographs.

Every British Army deployment around the world is underpinned by the communications and IT networks established and maintained by the Royal Signals. From warfare and disaster relief operations through to ceremonial state occasions, it is vital that troops are able to communicate securely and effectively no matter what conditions or threats exist.

In the modern world, many of these challenges involve threats in the cyber domain from both hostile states and individuals. In this Cyber Awareness Month these photographs, all taken by serving Royal Signals soldiers, capture the essence of this very modern form of warfare and the Corps' key role in cyber defence, providing the Army's only dedicated Cyber unit, 13 Signal Regiment.

The photographs also feature the many different aspects of life in the Royal Signals, a corps that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020. Always at the cutting edge of technology, today it also leads in terms of developing its own people, offering unrivalled apprenticeships and recognised professional qualifications. With all roles being open to everyone in the Corps, it is well placed to continue leading its field into the future.
