Description
In February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. This temporary display will look at the origins of the war and the work of the British Army to assist Ukraine since 2014.
On 24 February 2022, Russia launched an illegal military invasion of Ukraine.
Widely condemned around the world, this attack came after a period of escalating tension in the region following Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014.
The Ukrainian people and their armed forces fought bravely against this unprovoked Russian aggression.
After the invasion, the United Kingdom worked alongside an international coalition of allies seeking to uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and to maintain the European balance of power.
This display explores the historical background of the current conflict, from the Crimean War in the 1850s through to the present day. It also looks closely at the work carried out by the British Army to support Ukraine since 2014.
