Description

Servants are taking over at the Geffrye ... This exhibition will explore domestic service and the experiences of servants living and working in middle-class households over the last four hundred years.

New scenarios created in the museum’s parlours, drawing rooms and living rooms will bring to life these narratives – often overlooked by historians - from a seventeenth-century laundry day to a French au-pair picking up after the family she lives with in 1960.
