Description

Find out more about the history of Woolwich through maps and images.

Sourced from The Survey of London's Volume 48, this exhibition is staged jointly by English Heritage and the Greenwich Heritage Centre.

Many of the photographs, drawings, maps and plans specially commissioned by English Heritage for the book are reproduced in the exhibition, alongside concise and informative text from the authors.

Historical images drawn from the Centre's collections of paintings, drawings, prints and photographs feature alongside artefacts, archival material, and some recently discovered 1960s film footage.

Covering the parish by area and building type, the exhibition explores the history and development of Woolwich and its community, and should prove fascinating to anyone interested in the area, in architecture, and in London history and social history.
