Description
Relics of nature often go unnoticed until they are placed behind the glass of a camera lens or display case.
Subnature is an installation of sculptures and prints produced by Lan Lan (UCL Slade School of Fine Art), set amongst the skeletons and specimens in jars of the Grant Museum of Zoology. The starting point for each artwork began with regenerating fish bone into contemporary phantom creatures.
The exhibition explores the relationships between nature and its representation. The forms and aesthetics of the installations seek to preserve the longevity of the bony creations by using light and digital processing technology.
