Description

Commissioned by Grosvenor for London Craft Week, Tom Raffield’s sculptural steam-bent light forms cover the trees of Orange Square, creating an installation which highlights the skills and traditional manufacturing techniques employed by Tom and his craftsmen from his woodland workshop in Cornwall.

Tom Raffield has been designing and manufacturing steam-bent contemporary furniture and lighting since 2008. Growing up surrounded by the natural beauty of Exmoor, England, Tom Raffield was inspired at an early age by the unspoiled landscapes of his environment. Whilst studying at art school he developed an innovative steaming method which allowed him to manipulate a variety of wood types and bring his designs to life.

Each Tom Raffield product is handmade by a skilled set of craftsmen, and individually finished with the care and attention of a fine piece of art.
