Description

Hello from Hampstead! examines the history of postcards in Britain, from their peak of usage during the 'Golden Age' to their decline following the outbreak of the First World War. This exhibition focuses in particular on the use of postcards in Hampstead and the depiction of local landmarks.

Burgh House & Hampstead Museum's extensive collection of postcards is featured in the exhibition, alongside two objects from other museums: a stuffed badger from the Horniman Museum, which will be on display from 17th July to 18th October as part of the Object in Focus project funded by the Arts Council; and an early 20th century post box from the Postal Museum and Archive.
