Description

This free installation invites visitors to orient themselves in the buildings and their complex, fascinating histories in an exciting new display at the heart of the Barbican’s Foyers.

Created using the Centre’s original materials, this display presents a changing selection of stories and objects from the Archive. The centrepiece is a rarely seen, 1:22-scale model of the Centre and Estate.

Working with Google Arts and Culture, we have also catalogued and digitised thousands of architectural plans, drawings, photos, objects and leaflets. These collections can be viewed on our Google Arts and Culture page, or on a touchscreen in the exhibition.

The Barbican Archive Team is beginning the process of recording and reflecting on the centre's histories. This display will keep changing, highlighting different stories, showcasing different objects.
