Description

Featuring exhibits from its own extensive collection, there will also be exhibits from the Ealing Club CIC ‘the birthplace of electric Blues in the UK’ and the Paul Oliver Special Collection held at Oxford Brookes University.

The exhibition charts in items of all kinds the rise of British Blues music from its US and African roots in the 20th Century through to artists performing today.

Among the exhibits will be items relating to and donated by the first British Blues Exhibition Hall of Fame members, John Mayall and the late Chris Barber. Chris Barber himself played at the Barbican with his Jazz band, and, a co-founder of London’s Marquee Club and he worked with numerous Blues musicians such as Alexis Korner, and brought luminaries including Muddy Waters – whose eldest son, Mud Morganifield, is a supporter of the British Blues Exhibition, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Big Bill Broonzy.

Curated by Darren Weale.
