Description

An exhibition exploring the first 30 years of the Building Centre through its archive collection. Born out of a building materials bureau at the Architectural Association, under the guidance of director Frank Yerbury, the Building Centre established itself as a seedbed of ideas for the building industry and all those interested in it.

Through archival material the exhibition follows the journey of the Building Centre under Yerbury’s direction. The Building Centre’s legacy from 1931 – 1961 is revealed through material libraries, the Blitz, patronage from the Duke of Edinburgh and seminal exhibitions of women architects, Spanish modernism and le Corbusier.
