Led by our experienced and knowledgeable Cathedral Guides, this is an opportunity to explore Southwark at a leisurely pace
Charles Dickens spent time in Southwark when his father was sent to Marshalsea debtors’ prison in 1824. Young Charles’ regular visits generated ideas and inspired characters which would appear in his novels.
This walk will take you to places associated with Pickwick Papers, The Old Curiosity Shop, David Copperfield and Little Dorrit finishing with a visit to St George the Martyr Church on Borough High Street*

Duration : 120 minutes
Start: Southwark Cathedral Courtyard, SE1 9DA
Finish: St George the Martyr, SE1 1JA
Meeting point: Southwark Cathedral Courtyard located on the north side of the Cathedral opposite the River Thames.
Please ensure you wear sensible footwear for this walk and be prepared for all weather conditions. We also recommend you bring a small bottle of water with you.
Maximum of 15 people per walk. If on the day you are unable to attend please do let us know so we can offer the space to someone else.
