Adele Emm tells the story of how the silk industry arrived in England.
In this talk, Adele includes a look at the legendary Silk Road, the Huguenot contribution, industrial espionage, and the influence of silk on textile mill architecture, silk spinners, weavers and working conditions.
Adele Emm researches and writes full time specialising in media, social history and family history. Her most recent book is "My Ancestors Worked in Textile Mills" published in 2020 by the Society of Genealogists. You can read her blog at: adeleemm.com
