As C20's 'unofficial photographer' John East would usually kick off the New Year with a review of C20 events from the previous year. But this year would have made for a very short presentation. Instead, John got on his bike during the spring and autumn lockdowns and revisited buildings which he first got to know with the Society (and its forerunner, the Thirties Society) many years ago and took spectacular images of London's inter-war architecture.
The first evening will focus on that much overlooked decade, the 1920s, starting with the impact of the end of WW1 and the 'Homes Fit for Heroes' campaign, through to the flowering of the 'Jazz Age' and the emergence of Art Deco and some of the seminal buildings from that era that are now so loved.
We will see both well known buildings as well as those which you might not have come across, and although many of the photographs have been taken during 2020, John will also show some of the splendid interiors of those buildings from earlier C20 visits.
