John Dunthorne, BSc, a Member of the Cleethorpes and District Astronomical Society, will be delivering an invited seminar on the possible technical challenges of a manned space mission to Mars. The talk explores the formidable scientific, engineering and human challenges facing manned missions to Mars and how they might be overcome. It includes a look at some of the fascinating and innovative proposals for possible Mars habitats.

John Dunthorne taught physics, electronics and ICT. At different times he was the Head of Design and Technology and Head of ICT. John is also an active member of the Cleethorpes and District Astronomical Society. He has had a lifelong interest in astronomy and the space programme.

This is an RAeS event, held jointly with IChemE, and IET.
