Join Sam Moorhead, of the British Museum, as he tells the fascinating story of how the myth of Troy travelled to Roman Britain and influenced its inhabitants and, in turn, the writers of medieval England and later British traditions.
Covering a wide range of sources, the talk will refer to lines of the Aeneid preserved in the Vindolanda tablets; Wace’s Roman de Brut, about Brutus of Troy; and the ships of the Royal Navy.
